The Five Tenets

of Dojos of the Risen Son

SCHOOL CREED

RESPECT

I will treat others as I would have them treat me.

HUMILITY

I will humble myself before others and the Lord.

PERSEVERANCE

I will no longer say “I can’t”, for all things are possible through Christ, our Lord.

SELF CONTROL

I will discipline my body through hard work, and my mind and soul through study of the Word.

HONESTY

I will conduct myself with truth and integrity in all that I say and do.

Respect

Philippians 2:3 (KJV) Let nothing be done through strife of vain glory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves.

1 Peter 3: 15-16 But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who ask you for the reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.

Humility

1 Peter 5:5 Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders.  Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but give grace to the humble.”

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Perseverance

Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Romans 12:12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

Self-Control

Psalms 37:8 Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil.

Proverbs 15:18 A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger quiets contention.

James 1:19-20 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

Honesty

Eighth Commandment: thou shall not bear false witness

Ephesians 4:25 Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.

John 8:31-32 … So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Confidence

While not one of our tenets, it is one of the greatest by-products gained by our

students, through this program. The confidence our students gain, in themselves,

helps with all aspects of their lives. Students learn to face challenges confidently,

knowing that "through Jesus, all things are possible" because they've spent time

learning how to do things they never thought they would be able to do.
